Title: Pariii

Medium: Scanned images using portable scanner

Description:

This series captures the streets of Paris just before the Olympic Games, using a portable scanner that goes beyond traditional document scanning to explore urban landscapes. The project documents the city in its final moments of everyday life before the transformative event.

Concept:

The series provides a snapshot of Paris as it prepares for the Olympics, capturing both visible and subtle traces of the impending event. The scans reveal Olympic-themed markings—such as face stickers, bicycle lane stamps, and other logos—intermingled with the city’s private, unaltered spaces. One notable piece features the word "privé" (private), showcasing a staff room in a restaurant and highlighting areas the Olympics did not reach. This contrast underscores how even major events have boundaries and areas that remain untouched.

Artistic Intent:

The use of the portable scanner as a medium allows for a unique exploration of the city, focusing on the intersection of public spectacle and private life. The scans reveal the juxtaposition between the Olympics’ pervasive presence and the everyday spaces that retain their own character. By capturing these moments, the series offers a contemplative view of how large-scale events imprint on urban environments and how they coexist with the city's inherent privacy.
