XENIA BUNINA born in 1992
bio
Born in Kazakhstan and shaped by a life of constant movement, my artistic journey is as diverse as the places I’ve called home. After attending primary school in France and completing my studies in Saint Petersburg, I’ve been living in exile since 2022 and currently reside in Lisbon, Portugal, where I’m enrolled at ARCO Contemporary Art School. With over ten years of practice, my work spans oil painting, sculpture, street-art, photography, drawing, scanning, collage, and video art—reflecting my belief that there are no limits to creative exploration.
Education:
-
2023/2026 ArCo, Contemporary Art School, Lisbon, Portugal
-
2009/2013 St Petersburg State University, Journalism and Mass Media
about art
My art is driven by emotions and the search for connections and traces between everything—both in the world around me and within myself. As an immigrant since birth, the themes of connection and searching for roots are central to my work, as I strive to piece together my identity from the fragments of this world. I also create sharp, pacifist art that confronts conflict and advocates for peace through bold imagery and subtle irony.
exhibits
This year, my works advocating for political prisoners will be exhibited in Paris, France (dates TBC), and on July 19 I’ll host a contemporary art masterclass there.
